The pregnancy is a period when the women's body experiences multiple changes, and the women also needs to make certain healthy choices while pregnant for both hers and the baby's well being. If a mother has a gestational diabetes, than she will have to reduce the intake of sugar in order for the baby to not have high risk of being born with diabetes. Since the mother usually eats more, as the appetite is increased because of the nutritional demands of the baby, it is normal that the women gains 25 to 30 pounds during the pregnancy. Other things that are healthy choices are having larger intake of food that is rich in iron, drinking lot of liquids, avoiding alcohol and cigarettes, having regular short walks.
