I would say that the Voting Rights Act ended literacy tests.
Prior to the Act, people of color had to take literacy tests to determine whether they were eligible for voting. The Act had nothing to do with poll taxes, it didn't end voter segregation because it still existed, and it had nothing to do with gender either but rather with skin color.
